What a gorgeous tea room. Delicious and extremely good value. Family run, which gave it that extra special touch. Will be back for more hand-made cakes and to watch the birds in the garden. Stunning location. Dog friendly. Visited twice as it was that lovely.

We stopped here for lunch and chose The Old Barn tea which included half a sandwich, a scone and all the trimmings, it was delicious! It was a beautiful day and there were birds hopping around. It was consistently busy but there was plenty of outdoor and indoor seating.

Located in an idyllic spot, deep in the Welsh countryside, and (literally) in an old barn, the yellow-painted tearoom is home to the best afternoon tea I've had - and I am a connoisseur of cream teas/ afternoon teas, having been enjoying them for 34 years in different parts of the UK. The service was very good, the location charming, and the quality outstanding - the scones were fresh and huge, the portions of cream and jam were massive, and the coffee dark and delicious.

Just behind yonder and next to nowhere, you will be rewarded for making the journey to this excellent tea room. A walk in the hills, either in the rain or sunshine, calls for a jolly decent cream tea and tasty accompaniments. This place is a joy to sit in and enjoy the traditional calorie-fest of jam-cream-scones. We had a variety of platters and my Ploughman's Lunch really hit the spot, although in reality that was just a way for me to justify the full cream that followed! The food here isn't over fancy, but it is generous, honest and well served with a smile. It's probably the setting that makes at a 100% experience though. You can eat inside an atmospherically decorated tea room, or sit sun-facing in a charming courtyard. There are some shade areas and few more tables lurking among the trees and garden. Tranquil is the best way to sum it up. An on-site car park makes for chilled out arrival, and the setting can't be beaten for poetry. I have to thoroughly recommend this place as it doesn't deserve less than 5 stars. Tip: Don't eat for a couple of days beforehand!

Such a Beautiful little hide away tea room. This was our second time we visited and the service is very friendly and spot on. It was my partners bday and they surprised him with a cake and a bday card, so thoughtful

Having diverted from our original route to visit the Old Barn, a few of the lads were complaining about the extra distance we were covering. Needless to say, it was well worth it with a great selection of food and drinks as well some great staff. Clean, welcoming and with plenty to choose from, you will most definitely enjoy refuelling here. Thanks for the experience

A Perfect Post-Hike Treat at Old Barn Tea Room After completing the iconic Horseshoe route around Pen y Fan, there’s no better place to refuel before heading home. Old Barn Tea Room is a welcoming spot where the staff are truly attentive and polite, making every visit feel special. Food arrives quickly—just what’s needed after a long trek—and the cakes are an absolute highlight. The Victoria sponge is wonderfully light, while the coffee and walnut strikes the perfect balance of richness and texture. Pair either with a freshly brewed tea or coffee, and you’ve got the perfect way to round off an adventurous day in the Brecon Beacons. A word to the wise: they don’t accept card payments, but bank transfers are an option, or simply bring cash. Honestly, it adds to the charm of the place, keeping it delightfully traditional. Not my first time here, and certainly not my last—if you’re passing by, this place is a gem worth stopping for!
